Count down, the clock inputs are connected to the preceding Q instead of -Q.

3. The picture below shows another 4-bit counter. This counter is set to count up. Without building it yourself, what is the starting number for the count? How high will it count before it starts over? How do you know?

It will count until the number 8, well really 9 but it'll reset itself back to 5 so quickly your eyes won't notice. I know that it will count to 8 only because of where the lines are connected it will reset when it reaches binary, "1001", or decimal "9".
